Kid Stuff was my final film at university. Jamie, is a boy who’s parents have had a bitter separation, leaving him in a less than ideal place. His estranged mother gifts him a small kitten that helps Jamie to try and unlearn from his parents mistakes and reflect on his past.

As per usual, the design and concept of the film were my favourite parts. As this was my last film at university, I wanted a film that looked like it was unequivocally made by me. I emphasized a lot of black in the shadows and I pushed the shapes on the characters, so as to make them stand out.

I also knew that colour was important, both from a story and design aspect. Jamie’s blue, depressing room contrasts against his mums pink, wine stained room and his dads beer coloured, dated yellow living room.
